Non stavo piú nella pelle quando ho saputo che la cicogna sarebbe arrivata presto, un po' perché sono sempre stata considerata "la piú piccola" della famiglia (arrivata a 26 anni era ora di passare il testimone!) e un po' perché non vedevo l'ora di cimentarmi nel realizzare una torta di pannolini e dare il benvenuto alla piccola Eleonora!!
Esistono numerose versioni di diaper cakes, io ho scelto di realizzare una classica torta a piani e di arrotolare singolarmente ogni pannolino per poterla poi smontare un po' per volta, decorandola con nastri in tinta e inserendo quá e lá tutine, bavaglini e altri regali.
Per ultimo ho impacchettato la torta con dei fogli plastificati trasparenti e a quel punto non mi é rimasto che vedere le facce stupite dei neogenitori di fronte alla torta-sorpresa: un'emozione impagabile!!
Trovo che sia un regalo semplice ma d'effetto, divertente e al tempo stesso molto utile e non vedo l'ora di poterne realizzare tantissime altre!!

I was literally thrilled when I heard the stork was going to be there any moment, first because I've always been considered as "the little of the family" (now I'm 26 so it's time to pass the baton!) and second because I was looking forward to designing and creating my own and very first diaper cake and give a warm welcome to baby Eleonora!!
There are quite different kinds of diaper cakes so I decided to recreate an old fashioned layered cake. I rolled up and fixed each diaper in order to disassemble it one step at a time, and I decorated the layers with solid colours bows, onesies, rompers and other baby clothes.
Last but not least, I wrapped up the cake with plastic sheets, and then I enjoyed baby Eleonora's parents surprised faces looking at this huge gift! That was absolutely priceless!!
I consider diaper cakes as a very special and unique gift, simple and touching, funny but useful at the same time and I can't wait to make many many more cakes!!
